DIRECTOR

Charles Mhlauri is the director of CM International Soccer, a consulting and training entity that runs camps, clinics and youth development opportunities in the US. He is the former head coach of the Zimbabwe National Team (2004-07). Charles holds the German (DFB) A-license, one of the highest-level licenses available worldwide, as well as a Director of Coaching diploma from NSCAA.

 

Charles started out in international coaching in his native Zimbabwe in 1993, working his way up the professional coaching ladder, winning three professional championships before being appointed head coach of the national team in 2004. He led the team to victory in the coveted COSAFA Cup in 2005. In 2006, he led them in their World Cup qualifier games and the Africa Cup of Nations.

 

Over the course of his coaching career, Charles has developed numerous players who have gone on to play in top clubs around the world, including Benjani Mwariwari (Manchester City), Benjamin Nkonjera (SC Krieans), Peter Ndlovu (Sheffield United), George Mbwando (Aachen FC).

 

While in Germany, Charles enjoyed the opportunity to work at leading German clubs FC Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen, and studied under legendary coaches Ottmar Hitzfeld, Erich Rutemoller, Rudi Voller, Horst Kriete, and others.

 

More recently, in addition to his work as director of CM International Soccer, Charles has worked as an assistant coach at Wesleyan University, Director of Coaching at Lightning Soccer Club in New Hampshire and coach for FSA Soccer Plus in Connecticut. He has coached at numerous college camps, including Yale University, Dartmouth College, Wesleyan University, Bowdoin College and Franklin Pierce University. Charles has served as a consultant for many college coaches around New England and has helped develop and place numerous players at NCAA D1, D2 and D3 colleges.

 

In 2008, Charles was named Ambassador for Grass Roots Soccer, an international non-profit organization that provides African youth with the knowledge, life skills, and support to live HIV-free through the game of soccer. Charles works in the Athletics Department at Kimball Union Academy and lives in the Upper Valley with his wife, Sithembiso, and their five boys.
